It’s the weekend again! Hurrah! What’s more the sun has made an appearance so it looks like we’re set for a sunny spring weekend in the capital. Here are three ways to spend those precious 48 hours of freedom in the city, and put to good use the money saved on your tax!
Alice in Wonderland
To celebrate 150 years since Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland was first published, the British Library have curated this exclusive exhibition where visitors can get a sneak peak at Lewis Carroll’s original manuscript, complete with intricate hand-drawn illustrations. Get the creative juices flowing at this unique display of the inner-workings of this literary legend and don’t forget to stock up on Alice-inspired stationery, accessories and clothing in their beautifully curated gift shop.
Drum ‘n’ Bass Boat Party
Quite a departure from the Alice exhibition, this is one for the party people looking to live their weekend to the max. There are no prizes for guessing what this one’s all about – with local and international musical talent such as Jumpin Jack Frost, Tom Central and BobaFatt, alongside the setting on a boat on the Thames at Temple Pier, this is a party not to be missed.
Crafty Fox Spring Market
Head to Peckham’s Bussey Building this weekend for a fantastic spring-time market that will be full to the brim of handcrafted gifts and clothing lines from over 100 designers. As well as a general brik-a-brak for sale, there is also the chance to learn how to marble paper and hand-cut acrylic jewellery at workships, there is also a DJ to up the pace and a well-stocked bar. What’s more, entrance is free.
